Misty is a 7 year old cattle dog mix. She has made it through some tough times in her life, but things have turned around for her. She is doing wonderful in her foster home and is quite the “funny girl”! If another dog is sleeping on her favorite bed at night, she will whimper like she has to go outside. Then when the offending dog runs out of the room thinking she is going outside, Misty will plop down and get real comfortable on the bed!
Now the absolutely best news about Misty is that she is down to her swimming suit weight and is ready for summer! She has been working hard all winter and it shows. Some of her favorite things are shopping at PetsMart and going for car rides. Misty is housebroken, crate trained, up to date on all her shots, and ready to spend some quality time with her new family. Find some room on your heart for this fun loving gal, she is waiting for you! Misty was adopted 12/19/09!

Gloria, 2 year old border collie mix, housebroken, UTD on shots, microchipped. Gloria came into rescue with 4 puppies. She was an excellent mom and is a sweet, loving girl who is on the small side. She is also heartworm positive and is in the process of being treated to cure her of heartworms. She will be ready for adoption the end of January. Gloria is an excellent watch dog and gets along well with all of the other dogs in her foster family and the 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. Gloria was adopted 1/10/10!

Chip was adopted 8/10/10!

Chip, an Aussie/Sheltie mix, is just turning 2 years old. He currently weighs right at 30 pounds, but could use a few more on him as he is very thin. For the 9 months before he came into rescue, there was no one living at the same place where he was kenneled. His owner had to go to a nursing home and her son wasn’t able to take the dogs with him, so the only human contact he had was someone coming and going a couple times a week to put out food and water and leave. As a result, Chip is timid and nervous around humans – never aggressive, just unsure. We are working on building his trust in humans and he’s making great progress. He now sleeps out of his crate at night and will jump up on the bed in the morning when he needs to go out. He loves belly rubs and plays with toys all evening. He very quickly learned the routine of going to his crate and is completely comfortable with it. He also loves car rides. Chip is now housebroken and walks well on a leash. He has finished a 6-week Pet Manners class. Once he gets over the nervousness of being in a new place, he is a very quick learner. Chip is a pretty active, typical young dog and wants something to do. He’s learning to love human attention and needs a family with some patience to let him warm up to you at his pace. It is strongly recommended that Chip be adopted by a family with at least one other dog to help Chip continue to learn how to be a dog and that humans are OK – he comes over to me quicker once he sees my dogs snuggling with me. Chip loves others dogs and plays well with both of mine. Chip will be fine with children over 10, but may be frightened by the quick movements of younger ones.

Cassie was adopted 3/27/10!

Cassie, 4 year old aussie/bc mix (Winston’s littermate) UTD on shots, HW negative, housebroken, crate trained. Cassie was turned in by hoarders who realized that they could no longer afford to feed her and her littermates. Although they professed their love for their dogs and had them since birth, they never bothered to name any of them and the dogs lived in horrid conditions outside. They were filthy, matted and full of fleas and ticks and had ear infections. In spite of living in this squalor, Cassieis a friendly, although shy girl who likes to take things slowly with new people & situations. She is learning how to be a house dog and for a dog that never saw the inside of a house before has really adapted quite well. Cassie loves her foster mom and is rarely out of her sight, but is still a little hesitant with her foster dad. She is fine with cats.

Jazz – blue merle, 2 blue eyes, spayed, microchipped, UTD on shots, crate trained, housebroken, born March 2009. Jazz is a very active little girl when she is playing with other dogs, but if you work with her one on one, her attention is very focused. She is loving, intelligent, knows basic commands, several tricks and is very willing to learn new things. Jazz has completed a foundation class in agility with Jennifer McDonald and has done extremely well. We will ONLY consider placing Jazz into a serious agility performance home. She will continue her agility training until she is placed. Jazz needs to be busy and is a natural for agility – she measures under 18 inches right now and we believe she will not be over 18 inches when mature. Because of the extra expense of her agility training, Jazz’s adoption fee will be $500 and she will NOT be placed outside of the St. Louis area. Jazz was adopted 12/23/09!

Jessie – 2 to 3 year aussie mix spayed female, UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped, housebroken, cratetrained. Jessie is a very sweet girl who loves to play with other dogs, go on car rides and taking walks. Jessie is shy with men but adores women and loves to cuddle and be petted. She is good with children and is reliable enough to not be crated when her foster mother is gone. Jessie will require moderate brushing each week to keep her beautiful coat in good condition. Jessie was adopted 12/08/09!

Harley – 3 year old aussie mix, UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped, housebroken. Harley had spent his entire life chained in the backyard with a “lean to” for protection. A good samaritan moved in next door to his former owners and asked if she could find a home for him since it broke her heart to see him out in the weather – cold, wet and most of the time without fresh water. Since his owners really didn’t care about him, they were glad to get rid of the chore of feeding him, so the good samaritan called us. Harley is a great dog – he can get a little excited when first meeting you, but he does settle down nicely. He is an active boy who loves to be with his foster parents and go wherever they go. He is fine with cats but can play a little rough with other dogs if he gets too excited. Harley also loves to ride in the car, is gentle when taking treats and was wonderfully cooperative for his bath. This boy is an all around nice dog who will really blossom if given half a chance.

Chelsi – 10 month old red tri female – probably an aussie/bc mix – UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped. Chelsi is a fun loving pup who loves to give kisses, play and run with the other dogs. She really, really hates to be in a crate but when left out in a bedroom when the foster mom is not home, does well as long as all temptations are put away – i.e. shoes, socks, etc… after all she is still very much a puppy. Chelsi is a little shy when meeting new people but it doesn’t take her long to warm up and become all friendly and happy. Chelsi was adopted 1/10/10!

Kirby is a blue merle male born 6/12/2009 – UTD on shots, microchipped, neutered, crate trained. We pulled Kirby out of a dog auction to keep him out of the puppymill life or medical research. He was labeled as a mini but he seems to just be a tad smaller than a normal size aussie. Since he spent the first 6 months of his life in a cage, he is a little shy and we are working on socializing him. Kirby is great with other dogs and is very sweet. He is learning to walk on leash and is making great strides in becoming a “normal” dog in his foster home.

Magic is a 14 year old beautiful blue merle male. Now we know that 14 sounds old, but he has a lot of love yet to give. This guy is super friendly and we are hoping that someone is wanting a new friend to snuggle up with this winter. Magic has been an outside dog for, well maybe, his whole life. Who could be more deserving than Magic to have a family to share the upcoming holidays with. We will know more about Magic when he settles in his foster home.
