Fern was adopted 10-4-10!

Fern is an 8 month old black & white mini aussie – UTD on immunizations, microchipped, housebroken. Fern continues to make progress in her foster home after being rescued from a horrendous backyard breeder. She likes to be around people, although still shy, she does approach people and gives dainty kisses. Unexpected loud noises will spook her & she will run to the other room, but quickly comes back… like she is really trying to stick it out, but her mind works faster than she can tell herself how to react. Fern is still very much a puppy & needs proper things to chew on – she also enjoys finding clothing that smells like her foster mom – she does not chew these up but just takes them and makes a bed out of them. She is submissive with other dogs and likes kids. She will let children approach her, and pet her, but doesnt like to “play” with them. This little angel of a dog will need someone who is dog smart enough to realize she will need a little extra time to adjust, but will be well worth the extra wait.

Hummer was adopted 8/5/10!

Hummer, 1 year old red tri male – 18 1/2 inches tall, 43 lbs, UTD on shots – will be neutered before going to new home – Hummer is very loving and playful – he was bought as a show dog but did not get big enough to be within the breed standard, so the owner wanted a dog she could compete with, so asked us to find him a good home. He has been around other dogs and does fine with them – he is well socialized. He is located in eastern Kansas.

Tia was adopted 8/23/10!

Tia, 6 month old black tri mini, spayed, UTD on shots, HW negative, 19 lbs.  Tia was also rescued from the same dog auction and was never outside of her crate until arriving at the foster home.  She was so scared and it was pathetic watching her try to figure out the simplest things – one step, going through a door, eating out of a dish.  Tia has progressed very quickly and is very affectionate although submissive to everyone.  She will lick & lick to show her submission but we are working on building her confidence.  Tia now goes readily into her crate to be fed, but then wants to come out to be near her foster mom as soon as she is done eating.  She gets along great with other dogs and enjoys a nice wrestling match.  She was fine with our 3 year old granddaughter.

Maxine was adopted 7/12/10!
Maxine, 7 month old blue merle/blue eyes mini aussie, spayed, UTD on shots, HW negative, crate trained.  This little love bug was rescued from a dog auction where she had been placed by the backyard breeder who had never allowed her out of her crate.  Maxine was very fearful for the first few days at the foster home, but is now very attached to her foster mom and totally enjoys cuddling and taking naps in her lap.  She is 15 lbs and will probably not get any larger.  Maxine is fine around other dogs, but can be a bit bossy so we feel she would do better as an only dog.  She was OK with the 3year old that she was introduced to, but did not want to interact with the child so she would probably not be a good candidate for a “family” dog.  Maxine would thrive best in a quiet home that would enjoy a “lap warmer” of a dog.

August was adopted 8/8/10!

August is a very snuggly female Mini Aussie from a puppy mill. She was born on November 27, 2009 & is current on all shots, spayed and micro chipped and pretty much full grown at 25 lbs.  Good with other dogs and cats.  August enjoys being on your lap or just close to you and she is finally coming into her own.  It took her several weeks to get over the shock of no longer living in a crate 24/7.  She will play with a ball by herself, pushing it around with her paws and chasing it.  She likes chew bones & stealing socks from the laundry basket leaving a trail down the hall to and from the basket (does not chew them).  Likes to give kisses. August is learning to trust and she is totally adorable and it’s so rewarding to see her blossoming under the loving attention her foster family is giving her.
