Adopted!

Macy was adopted 8/11/11!
Macy – 4 year old black tri female – spayed, UTD on shots, HW negative, crate trained, housebroken, microchipped. Macey was turned into rescue because her family had a baby and no longer had the time for her. She is a very sweet girl who is afraid of some men but was very good with her former owner. We haven’t figured out what triggers her fear with some men, but she will warm up to them if they are patient with her. She is very good with other dogs and children and is interested in cats, but not ugly with them. She has a sweet temperment and would probably be best in a home with only women or at least a low key man.

Milo was adopted 7-27-11!

Milo is a 9 month old “Rattle” (Rat Terrier/Poodle) who weighs in at 7lbs. Milo
was purchased by a teenager for his girlfriend. When the girlfriend broke-up
with the guy, Milo was sentenced to stay in the garage with no windows or A/C
because his parents didn’t want a puppy messing in the house. Now happily in a
foster home this smart puppy has quickly learned to go in his crate, walk on a
leash and is trying to catch up on house training. He is a bit shy around men
but LOVES the ladies. When you come home he literally leaps into your arms and
proceeds with a full on kiss attack. He’s energetic, playful and cuddly. Adores
kids, annoys cats on occasion and plays well with the much larger dogs in the
house. He is also good on car rides. He is neutered, chipped and up to date on
shots.

Private Referrals are listed as a courtesy to other rescues, shelters, and private individuals looking to place a dog. Any adoption resulting from this listing is a matter solely between the lister and potential adopter.

Rock-It is a 2 ½ year old Portuguese Water Dog.  Rock-It is current on shots and is neutered.  Rock-It is wonderful dog, LOVES people, LOVES other dogs, acts like an Aussie temperament wise.  He is 100% house trained, can go in a crate or can be loose 24/7 and will never tear up anything.  Rock-It gets groomed once a month, does not shed.  It is with great sadness that he needs to find a new home.  His owner is getting senile and is no longer able to properly care for Rock-It.  Thus, the family wants the best for Rock-It and wants to place him in a home where he is loved and where he can get all the attention he can stand.  He loves to sleep in bed, loves car rides.  He is PERFECT in every way!!!!
To learn more about Rock-It please contact Anne.

Cody was adopted 5/27/2011!

Cody, red merle male, approximately 18 months old, UTD on shots, microchipped, crate trained, housebroken.  Cody was picked up as a stray in southern Missouri and brought into rescue several months ago.  Poor boy was malnourished and heartworm positive so he has nursed back to health and is now ready for a family of his own.  Cody absolutely LOVES everyone – we are sure there must be some golden retriever in his ancestry!  He is an active boy that would be a wonderful jogging or hiking partner.  He would also probably be too exuberant for small children but kids over 10 year would have a ball with him.  This beautiful boy is a sweetheart ready to settle in with a family of his own!

Isen was adopted 5/24/11!

Isen, 4 year old black tri, neutered, UTD on shots, housebroken, crate trained, microchipped.  Isen is an ex-show dog – he was loved very much by his breeder, but she had to downsize because of family issues.  He was NOT a kennel dog but was a  house pet.  He has been around small children, but we would prefer he go to a home with older children.  Isen is especially fond of men and totally beautiful.  He is in a foster home with cats and seems to be fine with them.

Lilly  was adopted 5/10/11!

Lilly – 5 month old Newfoundland mix – spayed, housebroken, crate trained, microchipped.  Lilly is the sweetest, most laid back pup that we have seen.  Lilly seems to love everyone – 4 legged and 2 legged.  She is around 45 lbs now & we guesstimate that she will be around 70 lbs at maturity.  From her pictures that the shelter sent us, she looked like a black tri aussie mix, but when we got to the shelter & actually met Lilly, it was very evident that she was not an aussie of any kind.  We didn’t have the heart to leave such a sweet dog, so Lilly is now officially an honorary Aussie!  All joking aside, she is a very nice dog and although she is going to be bigger than the average male aussie, she is an exceptionally nice girl!

Rika was adopted 4-11-11!

Rika – 3 year old red merle female.  This beautiful young girl was picked up as a stray - she was so frightened at the shelter but has blossomed in her foster home.  She is good with other dogs, very friendly with people and absolutely loves to be petted.  She has a medium to high energy level and needs an active home.  Rika is hearing impaired but not completely deaf.  She hears when her foster mom calls her & can hear other dogs barking.  She is crate trained & goes into a crate very willingly.  Because of her slight hearing loss - she MUST be placed in a home with a secure fence.

We want you to look at Stuie because he is quite a remarkable dog.  He has had a few moves in the last few years and he hasn’t skipped a beat.  He has consistantly been a wonderful, wonderful dog.  His foster mom says there are no kids in the house, but Stuie must have had them in his life at some time, because he waits and watches out the window for the bus to drop off the neighborhood kids from school.  Does that make you think of Lassie?   It does us!  If you are looking for an all around good dog, check out Stuie.  He is waiting for a home of his own.

Stuie – 5 year old neutered, german shepherd mix. UTD on shots, HW negative, housebroken, crate trained. This wonderful boy has found his way from Arizona to Missouri – a young couple adopted him from an AZ shelter about a year ago & moved to Springfield, MO without the fore-thought of looking for housing that would take a dog over 30 lbs. They tried to place him through Craig’s list but when that failed, they took him to the humane society. Stuie has immaculate house manners & is good with all other dogs and loves children. He is very obedient and does whatever is asked of him. Stuie is quiet in his crate and will go in there readily, is great on lead and during car rides. Stuie has a unique, beautiful look that seems to reveal an old wise soul. It’s impossible not to fall in love with this dog!

Luke was adopted 5/18/11!
Luke, 1 to 2 year old aussie?? mix – neutered, UTD on shots, microchipped, successfully treated for HW, crate trained, house broken.  He is on the small side, weighing in at 38 lbs.

Update: Luke is learning to sit, stay and wait on command. He loves to go for walks and is learning how to walk very well on the leash. He also loves to play and fetches and returns any toy or ball.

Luke may be aptly described as a “velcro dog” as he bonds quickly. He is very loving and enjoys snuggling up to you. He can be a little uneasy around other dogs who display dominance, but once they warm up to each other he usually engages well.  If you enjoy a playful dog who exudes joy, Luke is your match.
