We adopted Godfrey in December 2001 when he was about 18 months old. Godfrey is around 11 now and is mistaken for a puppy! When I walk him around Charlotte, NC., people are amazed what great shape he is in for how old he is. We get him puppy cuts in the summer, and he looks amazing without his hair. He loves to walk for miles every day, and he goes on about two runs a week. We have limited his running a little since he is older.

By the way, we moved to Charlotte last summer because of Tim’s job. Since we didn’t have anyone to watch Godfrey in Charlotte, we needed to find a place to board Godfrey when out of town. He is okay with other dogs, but he is not the social butterfly. However, he seems to do well at this place we found in Charlotte called Dogtopia.

I thought you might like to see one of your previous foster dogs named Dog of the Week!

We love Godfrey so much, and he has been the best addition to our family. We look forward to many more years with him.

Kay & Candy:

Just a short note to let you know that Bogey (Caesar) is doing fantastic (adopted in Sept. 2010). We all love him very, very much. He has added years of life to our 11 year old lab as they are the best of friends. Bogey is an extremely well-mannered guy and we couldn’t be more happier with him or ask for anything more in a dog. My husband says that he is more human than dog. He will start 4-H obedience classes next month with my daughter with hopes of showing at the county fair in July.

Photos: Bogey enjoys sleeping with us. I’m not sure what we’ll do when tick season gets here, but for now, we’re enjoying our cuddle time (and the thing with Bogey, if we tell him “off”, he gets off and doesn’t jump back up unless he has permission—what a good dog!). The other photos are just some black & whites in the snow. I like how he just blends into the snow. The little bump on his nose is from trying to bury a bone in the frozen ground. He’s not a digger, so his nose took a licking!

Hope you had a good holiday season. Take care.

Hello and Merry Christmas from the Aussie Posse. I would like to take this opportunity to say a great big thank you and God Bless You to St. Louis Aussie Rescue. Jessi was our first blessing over 10 years ago, fostered by Tina, then Missy a sweet old lady came to live out her last years with us. About 3 years ago came Boo (aka Penny) and my friend Sally adopted Gracie, both from Marilyn in Kansas City. I am now in my second week of “fostering” a smart boy from here in Central Illinois. My Aussies are truly family members from accompaning Sally & I walking 24 miles per week to backpacking and kayaking to hanging out at home. I love them all and really appreciate Kay, all the foster families and supporters of this great organization.

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Beau came home. We really feel like we won the lottery with Beau, he’s just been wonderful. He’s become a hiking buddy, running buddy, coffeehouse buddy, all the above! Beau loves to go anywhere and everywhere. He’s completely obsessed with his ball and plays as much as he can. He’s the sweetest dog we’ve ever been around. And he quickly became a member of the Maloy family. It’s really hard to believe it’s been a year! I attached some pictures, Beau even got to go with the family to Colorado and went on a five-day backpacking trip with His Boy (me) and Pops.

Everyone definitely has a special attachment with Beau. We love Beau!
Thanks so much Kay for putting Beau with me!

We had a great trip home! I stopped at the golf course first, and there were several customers around and he let everyone pet him, including my husband. He met our older lab and they basically just looked at each other.
When I went home, the cats were outside and I couldn’t step on the leash in time to stop him from investigating, but it went fine. One of the cats hissed at him and he was o.k. with that. He greeted the kids as they got off the bus. I thought things were going well, so I asked him to get on the golf cart to go for a ride. We rode over to the golf course and back and he acted like a pro riding that cart! We just finished our supper and he politely laid on the floor next to us. So, needless to say, we are thrilled with Caesar! We’re trying to decide on a name for him. We are leaning toward Bogey.

Thanks again for all that you do.

Jessie has been with us for just about a year now. She lives with myself and my husband and our four children. She is so loveable and protective. She loves to snuggle, play tug of war, chase the kids around the yard. Jessie has gotten over her fear of men and is very well behaved. She is like one of the kids, can’t imagine what life was like without her. She loves to go for rides in the car and play peek a boo around the couch. She does suffer from hip dysplasia but that doesn’t slow her down on bit. We are so thankfull for Aussie Rescue for helping us find Jessie. Thank You.

Doug and I wanted to let Aussie Rescue know how well Chelsi is doing. We adopted Chelsi in January 2010, and we won’t lie it was a bit tough in the beginning. Chelsi was very shy and timid, and we were used to our bubbly outgoing Aussie, Merlin. After lots of love, praise, and advice from Kay, Chelsi gained quite a bit of confidence and now loves to be in a social atmosphere. She is a bit of mama’s girl and follows me around the house when I am home. Chelsi especially loves walks, car rides, playing with her brother Merlin, and going to Queeny Park. We couldn’t have asked for a better dog and can’t imagine our lives without her. Even Merlin feels this way!
Just a quick note to thank you for facilitating this wonderful adoption! We are very, very pleased with Chip and for the extreme kindness we have received from both Joan and her Mom for bringing Chip to our home in Maryland.
This wonderful dog has a soft and trusting side to him and it is already coming out in these past few days he has been with us. He is getting along well with his new brother, Duke and sister, Sasha. I am so pleased at how well he is doing and our family is just in love with this little guy. He is a true gem and we are so fortunate that this “dream” became a reality. I can’t thank you enough and Joan for giving this dog a chance and giving us the opportunity to be his family. He has graced us with his loving presence and I see it in him and should just be a few more weeks before he will really drop his “guard”. Joan had mentioned he didn’t get up on the bed when she had him and last two nights he has popped up in the bed and slept with my husband and myself (he does have his own new beds to chose from!). But a warm furry body is always a joy to sleep with.
Thank you for giving us a chance and for trying something new, out of state adoption! I see many wonderful things for all of us in this dogs future.
Many thanks,
Joy

The furry ones that bark anyway. We’ve had Geo for 6 yrs now and he is now 8 yrs old. But he and Cruiser haven’t slowed down much.
