Hello and Merry Christmas from the Aussie Posse. I would like to take this opportunity to say a great big thank you and God Bless You to St. Louis Aussie Rescue. Jessi was our first blessing over 10 years ago, fostered by Tina, then Missy a sweet old lady came to live out her last years with us. About 3 years ago came Boo (aka Penny) and my friend Sally adopted Gracie, both from Marilyn in Kansas City. I am now in my second week of “fostering” a smart boy from here in Central Illinois. My Aussies are truly family members from accompaning Sally & I walking 24 miles per week to backpacking and kayaking to hanging out at home. I love them all and really appreciate Kay, all the foster families and supporters of this great organization.

Riley was adopted 12/19/10!
Riley – 4 year old black tri female with a tail, UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped, house broken, crate trained, 30 lbs. Riley was dumped at a rural shelter because she is “not good with horses”. We can certainly verify that she is not good with horses – as a matter of fact she is horrible with horses – to the point that she will even bark at pictures of horses. Interestingly enough, she is OK with cats – not great but not like she is with horses. Needless to say, she needs to go to a catless & horseless home. Other than that, Riley is a delightful little girl that is eager to please & takes verbal correction very well. She is a little bossy so would be better as an only dog or in a home with a secure male. Riley loves to ride in the car & thoroughly enjoys human company. She is very personable & smart along with being as cute as a button!
Annabelle was adopted 12/13/10
Annabelle – 3 months old female black tri aussie mix, about 22 lbs. UTD on shots, microchipped. Annabelle is fine with cats, good with other dogs as well, crate trained, house trained. She is a typical happy puppy who is absolutely in love with peanut butter and bones and loves to play with toys — especially if it squeaks! She is also very cuddly and loves to give you a quick lick before she wiggles into your spot on the bed (your pillow included). Annabelle is always excited to see you, even if you haven’t gone anywhere – she always has a game of tag ready for you. For being so young, she walks really well on leash.
Tosa was adopted 12/19/10!
Tosa (pronounced TOE-sa) is a beautiful 8 year-old Red Merle with one blue and one amber eye. She is housebroken, UTD on shots, heartworm negative, responds well to most commands and is quickly learning how to walk well on a leash. She loves to play with tennis balls and will chase any ball or toy you throw – although she may not bring it back as she likes you to chase her! Tosa’s previous owner developed allergies and could no longer take care of her. She is good with children, young or old, but we don’t know about cats. Having been an “only dog” for 8 years, Tosa is OK with other dogs but may do best as the only dog in the house. Tosa’s smile will be even bigger when she finds a great new family to live with and love.
Maverick is an 8 year old black tri, up to date on all his shots, housebroken, neutered and heartworm negative. This beautiful boy is easy going, loves being around people and is good with kids and other dogs. Maverick enjoys walks but likes sniffing and investigating his surroundings even more. He has impeccable house manners, is very well behaved and loves playing with the dogs in his foster home. Maybe you have room in your heart and a backyard to explore waiting for Maverick?
Buster was adopted 12/13/10!
Buster – 1 year old blue merle aussie mix, neutered, UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped, crate trained and housebroken. Buster is a sweet and energetic Aussie mix. He is house trained and plays well with other dogs, but if he finds himself alone in a big yard, he can entertain himself for hours. There’s much Buster has yet to learn, but he is quickly trainable and follows commands well. He does not bark at most people passing by, but bicyclists excite him for some reason! Buster is friendly to all he meets and will never object to pets although he would be best suited for a family with a yard for him to play in. He needs to learn to not affectionately jump up at people and “give hugs” but the few times he has encountered children, he has showed constraint and gentleness. He has very beautiful coloring, when walking with his foster family, people always stop and have to know what kind of dog he is! If you are looking for a handsome, fun-loving, energetic, smart, and graceful puppy to love, teach, and raise, then Buster is your guy.
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Beau came home. We really feel like we won the lottery with Beau, he’s just been wonderful. He’s become a hiking buddy, running buddy, coffeehouse buddy, all the above! Beau loves to go anywhere and everywhere. He’s completely obsessed with his ball and plays as much as he can. He’s the sweetest dog we’ve ever been around. And he quickly became a member of the Maloy family. It’s really hard to believe it’s been a year! I attached some pictures, Beau even got to go with the family to Colorado and went on a five-day backpacking trip with His Boy (me) and Pops.
Everyone definitely has a special attachment with Beau. We love Beau!
Thanks so much Kay for putting Beau with me!

Cissi was adopted 10/31/10!
Cissi is a very energetic, smart 6 yr old aussie who would love to find a stable home to call her own. She was first part of a busy family with 3 other dogs but a move left her without a home. A neighbor then adopted Cissy as a companion for his elderly father but when the father went into nursing care she was again made homeless.
In both of Cissi’s past homes she was around children of various ages as well as other dogs and did well. In her current foster home there are no young kids but on walks she loves to greet children and give kisses when passing the playground. She finds cats interesting but has learned to leave them alone. Cissi is house trained, crate trained and LOVES car rides. She’s also been a great office dog, laying quietly under the desk while the work gets done.
Either because of her personality or the repeated moves, Cissi has some separation anxiety issues and is also afraid of thunderstorms. Lots of exercise and a regular schedule has kept these problems to a minimum but we feel a home where she is not left alone for extended stretches would be best for her.
