She loves to go on walks & car rides. She knows how to sit and squeaky toys are her very favorite things. She is fine with cats and dogs and older children. This unique looking girl is a very nice dog that would love a family of her own.

Please contact Lynn for more information about Muffin.
Muffin is a 7 or 8 year old female blue heeler – American Cattle Dog – could be mixed with something but looks pretty much pure bred.  She was found as a stray about 5 years ago and was relinquished due to poor human handling.   Here is her story – Muffin was living on a farm with a boarding barn. When a family with a small child visited the farm, they entered the backyard where Muffin was tied to the porch to keep her out of trouble. The small child was sitting on Muffin and pulling her ears when Muffin nipped the girl. You and I might feel that was much deserved, but the owners were told to get rid of the dog. Her current foster home has observed Muffin with her grandchildren and she did really well, although it would be best for her to go to a home without kids.  She gets along with other dogs, is up to date on her shots, housebroken and will do anyting for a cookie. Muffin would really appreciate a place to call her own!

Private Referrals are listed as a courtesy to other rescues, shelters, and private individuals looking to place a dog. Any adoption resulting from this listing is a matter solely between the lister and potential adopter.

Rose is a delightful 6 month old aussie mix.  She is up to date on her shots, spayed and heartworm negative.  She was born on a farm and unfortunately for Rose she had a love for chickens and her owner decided she had to go.  So Rose ended up in a shelter and made her way to our rescue.  She is a sweet and loving puppy that is doing all the things young pups like to do.  Play! Play Hard! Nap!  Rose or Rosie or Rosie O’Grady is doing very well in the house.  She follows from room to room and has the best temperament. Oh, and that tail of hers never stops wagging.  Rose became fast friends with her foster home dogs and has been great with visiting 6 – 8 year olds.  She needs training and guidance, as all puppies do, but it will be worth all your time and effort. These pictures do not do Rose justice as she is one beautiful puppy that will grow into a faithful friend for many years.

DixieAdopted 2/8/10!

She was the last to be born – almost 9 hours after Spot. Dixie was the “runt” of the litter, but she caught up to the others very quickly and weighed as much as her sisters within the first week. She is all black and has some brindle highlights on her feet. She is the shyest of the bunch and very, very loving. Dixie loves cats. She’s quite calm but can really sprint when she gets in the playing mood outside. She also like a good game of tug-a-war with her siblings.

Born 10/20/09, all the puppies from this litter have been handled and socialized. These pups are All American mixes and their sweet, loving mother appears to have some shepherd in her. Fill out an application if you are interested in one of these puppies! The adoption fee is $100 and it covers puppy shots but does not cover the spay or neuter.

Chip, an Aussie/Sheltie mix, is just turning 2 years old. He currently weighs right at 30 pounds, but could use a few more on him as he is very thin. For the 9 months before he came into rescue, there was no one living at the same place where he was kenneled. His owner had to go to a nursing home and her son wasn’t able to take the dogs with him, so the only human contact he had was someone coming and going a couple times a week to put out food and water and leave. As a result, Chip is timid and nervous around humans – never aggressive, just unsure. We are working on building his trust in humans and he’s making great progress. He now sleeps out of his crate at night and will jump up on the bed in the morning when he needs to go out. He loves belly rubs and plays with toys all evening. He very quickly learned the routine of going to his crate and is completely comfortable with it. He also loves car rides. Chip is now housebroken and walks well on a leash. He has finished a 6-week Pet Manners class. Once he gets over the nervousness of being in a new place, he is a very quick learner. Chip is a pretty active, typical young dog and wants something to do. He’s learning to love human attention and needs a family with some patience to let him warm up to you at his pace. It is strongly recommended that Chip be adopted by a family with at least one other dog to help Chip continue to learn how to be a dog and that humans are OK – he comes over to me quicker once he sees my dogs snuggling with me. Chip loves others dogs and plays well with both of mine. Chip will be fine with children over 10, but may be frightened by the quick movements of younger ones.

Cassie, 4 year old aussie/bc mix (Winston’s littermate) UTD on shots, HW negative, housebroken, crate trained. Cassie was turned in by hoarders who realized that they could no longer afford to feed her and her littermates. Although they professed their love for their dogs and had them since birth, they never bothered to name any of them and the dogs lived in horrid conditions outside. They were filthy, matted and full of fleas and ticks and had ear infections. In spite of living in this squalor, Cassieis a friendly, although shy girl who likes to take things slowly with new people & situations. She is learning how to be a house dog and for a dog that never saw the inside of a house before has really adapted quite well. Cassie loves her foster mom and is rarely out of her sight, but is still a little hesitant with her foster dad. She is fine with cats.

Jessie – 2 to 3 year aussie mix spayed female, UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped, housebroken, cratetrained. Jessie is a very sweet girl who loves to play with other dogs, go on car rides and taking walks. Jessie is shy with men but adores women and loves to cuddle and be petted. She is good with children and is reliable enough to not be crated when her foster mother is gone. Jessie will require moderate brushing each week to keep her beautiful coat in good condition. Jessie was adopted 12/08/09!
